Example Answer
The graph tracks changes in accessibility to mobile phones, PCs, the internet and CD players, in British households between 1996 and 2003. The information can be divided into technology whose changes were gradual and that which experienced much more dramatic changes. Overall, the trend was upward for each of the four categories. The figures are given in percentages.
Access to CD players and PCs showed similar patterns with the former rising steadily from 60 to just over 80% and the latter from around 30 to approximately 50%. While the number of households with CD players maintained its’ position, the percentage of those with home computers was overtaken by mobile phones in the late 1990s.
Changes in access to mobile phones and the internet were much more pronounced with both increasing more than threefold. The former experienced a rapid growth more than doubling in the late 1990s reaching approximately 45%. Its’ growth continued, albeit more slowly, until 2000 when it again surged dramatically, finishing at around 70%. The internet, introduced in 1998 witnessed the biggest change beginning with about 10% and rocketing to around 45% at the end of the period.
