The assessment phase should provide a set of objectives for any training program that might be developed following the assessment. Each objective should relate to one or more of the KSAs identified in the task analysis and should be challenging, precise, achievable, and understood by all.21 Pfizer, Inc., for example its training to the competencies has identified for jobs from entry level to the most senior positions.22 Similarly, Wyeth, another pharmaceutical company, focuses its training on separate sets of competencies for salas employees and for managers.23
