5. Conclusion
Offering the weaner pig a diet containing 2.2 g aP/kg
supplemented with increasing levels of phytase (0, 500, 1000
and 1500 FTU/kg) improved Ca and P digestibility, feed
conversion ratio and bone mineralization at 33 kg BW. The
maximum effective concentration of phytase required to
maximise the aforementioned factors during the weaner
stage (8 to 33 kg BW) is still not known because a plateau was
not observed. The inclusion of a minimum of 1000 FTU/kg of
phytase in a weaner diet (8 to 33 kg BW) containing 2.2 g aP/
kg was required to maximise bone Ca and P concentration at
100 kg BW when offered adequate Ca and P diets from 33 to
100 kg BW.
