2.4.1. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) of CNCs
Modified CNCs were analyzed after freeze-drying by FTIR using
a thermo Nicolet Nexus 670 FTIR in the range of 400e4000 cm1
having a DTGS detector with 2 cm1 resolution. Spectra were obtained
from 32 scans and an aperture of 25%. Approximately 0.5 mg
of dry CNC sample was ground into a fine powder with 200 mg of
KBr (IR-grade from Sigma Aldrich) and pressed into a pellet.
