The bags, ranging from 20-50 kilogrammes in size, were scattered at the popular tourist destination for a distance of five kilometres - from Lan Hin Khao to Royal Hotel Rayong.
Operators of the hotels and restaurants lining the beach, as well as fishermen, joined hands in collecting the bags and piled them up for authorities to get rid of them later.
Tavorn Imphorm, a 45-year-old fisherman joining the clean-up effort, said the bags had been washed ashored since late Friday.
The bags might have accumulated over time and since they are non-biodegradable, it is only a matter of time before they are washed ashore and cause damage to the beach, they said.
