In an attempt to further partition the energy retention into lipid and protein retention
both expressed as their energy equivalents, similar values for the three fish species were
found, including maintenance requirements (Table 2). The efficiency of production for
protein ranged between 1.79 (kP= 0.56) and 1.90 (kP= 0.53), and for lipid 1.10 (kL= 0.91)
and 1.31 (kL= 0.76).
