Professor Prob wants his students to perform a laboratory
activity that will help them better understand the concept
of heat flow. The concept has already been introduced
in lecture and in assigned readings from the text. The
students will be asked to rank a series of chemical reactions
according to the amount of heat given off on a per mole
basis. He expects that the students have garnered enough
information from the readings and lecture to design and
implement a simple calorimetry-type experiment.
Professor Prob will be on hand to answer questions and
help students overcome any obstacles they may encounter.
By attempting to solve such a problem, he expects that
the students will better understand such concepts as endothermic,
exothermic, and heat capacity.
