reflection, Marissa felt the next time she did the lab
she would schedule another class ‘‘just for a class
discussion about comparing the two labs. I could
also incorporate a great deal of the nature of
science’’. She also felt that by providing students
with practice using technology (‘‘which is very
important to learn in our technology-based
world’’), the students were able to ‘‘see or better
understand concepts that might not be as clear
without the use of technology’’. She did admit to
not being as comfortable as she would have liked
to when teaching this sequence of lessons. ‘‘I was
not hesitant about letting the students know that I
would be learning along with them. They appreciated
this and gave me a few pointers on how to
use the equipment.’’ She did think her questioning
of the students helped them to relate the information
‘‘they already knew what the technology was
telling them. In other words, Iyhelped to
reinforce the concept of angle of insolation
[through my questioning]’’.
