p-value problem of large sample sizes, a conservative approach
was adopted; results are only reported as statistically
significant when they were significant at the 1 per cent level or
better (Lin et al., 2013). The squared multiple correlation
represents the proportion of variance of the dependent
variable that is explained by the predicting factors. Therefore,
it can be interpreted as coefficient of determination (R2)
(Byrne, 2010; Hauser et al., 2013).
