This module is intended for use in processing the output from a Chromel-
Alumel thermocouple in measuring temperature.
This module has facilities for use either with a single thermocouple or with a
twin thermocouple system, one being a cold junction thermocouple.
To measure temperature with a single thermocouple, connect the
thermocouple leads to the upper pair of sockets at the right-hand edge of the
module labelled 'HOT'. Connect the output sockets to the SL1 Mainframe
meter or other measuring device. Turn the function switch to 'INT', then
temperature is indicated with a scale of ImV per degree centigrade.
On some occasions it may be necessary to use an external thermocouple to
measure the difference in two temperatures. In this case connect the wires
from the hotter thermocouple to the hot sockets and connect the wires from
the cooler thermocouple to the cold sockets. Connect the output to a suitable
meter. Turn the function switch to 'SET ZERO' and adjust for zero output.
I Now turn the function switch to 'EXT' and the output from the thermocouple
amplifier will be the difference in temperature between the thermocouples.
