The City of Ocoee, located in the Orlando metro area, seeks a GIS technician with one to two years of experience in ArcGIS and fundamental knowledge of geomatics; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a suitable field is necessary. This position will undertake large-scale mapping using handheld GPS-driven field data collection devices, as-built drawings, and desktop GIS to create a new detailed map of the city and its built infrastructure. An initial focus will be integrating AutoCAD drawings of utility system facilities into the large-scale base map. It is expected that utility crews will continue to use AutoCAD redlining tools to provide as-built drawings of existing and modified infrastructure. Existing small-scale mapping products will serve as an intermediate foundation for large-scale mapping as the data are compiled and incorporated into the database. Applicants will be required to provide evidence of their background relevant to this work as part of the application submittal. Applicants with experience building online applications, either with self-hosted systems or ArcGIS Online, will receive priority consideration, as this is an area for future development.
