The depressive suicide survivors who lived in Somdet District Kalasin Province ,and had lost their family members from suicide for 6 months or more, were studied. Beck Depression Inventory (BDI – 1A) was used to evaluate depression. Seven survivors with score more than 20 haring severe depression were selected in this study. The resilience program built from the concept of Edith Grotberg. The study was conducted from 4 January 2011 to 31 June 2012. The program divided into 8 steps. Step 1 focused on establishing therapeutic relationship. Step 2 identified the problem and coping ability to crisis and distress. Step 3-4- 5 focused on planning to enhance coping skill. Step 6-7 included the implementation of plan. and evaluation Step 8 consisted of conclusion and termination. The program was done twice a week, 60-90 minutes per session. Follow up was done after the end of the program one and two months later.
Results
The score of depression improved in five survivors while two survivor dropped out. One month and two months after the end of the program, the score still have been improved. The survivors showed the perception of self esteem, pride , coping skill in emotion management and appropriate feeling in problem solving, effective communication skill.
