From the standpoint of resource allocation theories, this conclusion appears to be plausible considering the assumption that under low arousal levels individuals are more capable of focusing the bulk of attentional resources on a given task instead of on conditions surrounding their arousing state, resulting in a restricted central resource pool (Beal et al., 2005).
