I looked at how individual undergraduate team members in a large, public
university in the southeast United States used social media technologies to
support project work in work groups in which they were members. Data were
collected through a variety of collection tools, from which themes emerged. The
research questions were: what is the impact of social media technologies in
student work groups; what social networking technologies do student work groups
use to support project-oriented student work groups; what criteria do students use in
choosing the identified technologies; and how satisfied are students with their
choices of social media technologies upon completion of the project?
