Impact Limits of the Human Body
Data about the strength properties of human tissue and structure, often from cadaver or animal studies, can be used to estimate the likelihood of injury or severe injury in some situations. The data may be helpful in reconstructing certain accidents. However, because the body and actual conditions of an accident are complex, it is difficult to describe ana- lytically what happened and what caused the resulting injuries. Figure 11-1 provides some data about human tolerance to impacts.
