Using information processing theory as the theoretical lens
(Daft and Weick, 1984; Galbraith, 1973, Tushman and
Nadler, 1978), this research explores the organizational
capability to gather and process supply market information
and examines if this capability ultimately affects supplier
performance. Focusing upstream in the supply chain, we
develop and test a conceptual model proposing that supply
market scanning and internal communication climate are
related to the internal integration of the supply management
