The nesting capabilities of WRF (used in this study) allow for running the model in multi-scale
configurations, where the outer domain, set at relatively low resolution, resolves the large-scale
synoptic flow, while the gradually increasing resolution of the inner domains allows for realistic
representation of smaller and smaller scales, required for realistic rendering of the fire behavior
and smoke emission. The two-way coupling between the domains allows for a feedback between
the inner and outer domains.
