indicate an acute perceived time line and a low level of understanding of diabetes.
Examples of timeline items are the following: “ My diabetes will last a short time”
and “I expect to have diabetes for the rest of my life.” Examples of understanding
items are the following: “The symptoms of my condition are puzzling to me” and
“My diabetes is a mystery to me.”
