Lcons and pictograms
In the following exercise, try to translate simple statements, commands and information into a pictorial language that can be internationally understood. The aim is to reduce a massage to a sign or a pictogram by minimizing the information, as in the examples on the left. Notice that it’s not always possible to summarize a message in a simple picture without words. But use the exercise to train your ability to convert statements quickly into non-verbal symbols – this will boost your creativity. Incidentally, the strategy is also very helpful when you are trying to come up with real ideas for logos, intended to communicate something about a company or what it does.
