4. The wealth index is one measure of the long-term
standard of living. It is a composite of the
household’s ownership of consumer goods, various
dwelling characteristics such as toilet facilities, type
of drinking water source, and other characteristics
related to the household’s socioeconomic status. The
household rating is assigned to each respondent in it.
