The present study has addressed a topic that relates to the two main lines of
research found in the literature in relation to the professional status of teaching,
namely, the examination of teacher education programmes and the
investigation of the organisational factors and incentives associated with
teaching (Shen and Hsieh, 1999). It is hoped that further research in this area
can provide additional evidence regarding the effect of the inclusion of specific
courses in teacher education programmes on the initial expectations and
subsequent job satisfaction of in-service teachers.
