4.4. Manipulation check of mood induction
4.4.1. Evidence of neutral mood
As all groups received the neutral mood induction procedure,
we did not expect them to differ with regard to baseline emo-
tions. A oneway ANOVA confirmed that there were no differences
in the initial emotional state between the four experimental
groups, F(3, 103) 1⁄4 2.12, p 1⁄4.103. All four groups therefore showed
the same baseline emotions, at values indicating a neutral state of
emotion.
4.4.2. Evidence of positive emotional design
An analysis of variance with repeated measures (RM-ANOVA)
with condition as between-subjects factor and scores on the first
