The decision to activate a PAR in a context experiencing more or less explicit and acknowledged conflicts certainly involved confronting numerous dilemmas and taking risks, which will be discussed in depth below; however, it was felt to be a workable option because it made it possible to encounter the organizational actors involved and to give them the opportunity and space to voice their representations, experiences and hypotheses. We hypothesized that the PAR could allow the participants to experience an “other” communicative and relational space in which to confront one another both about the existing conflicts and their effects, and especially about the care and service provided to the patients.
