INTRODUCTION
Down syndrome (DS), or trisomy 21, represents the
most common chromosomal abnormality associated
with intellectual impairment.[1,2] Clinically, it is
characterized by generalized hypotonia, neurological
changes, structural cardiopathy, respiratory problems and
a greater risk of infection, dental anomalies, and orofacial
dysmorphology, which therefore requires special
attention in the dental treatment of these patients.
