4.4.2 Concepts
To be able to create concepts for the entire operation, the
basic functions that are presented in the system requirements
are used. Multiple solutions are presented for
each of these functions, along with their advantages and
disadvantages. It should be noted that the plastic will be
shipped as bulk cargo, or large quantities of unpacked
material, due to the volume of the material flow as calculated
in Chapter 4.1.
4.4.2.1 Transshipment
When the buffer is full or has reached a certain capacity,
the plastic will be shipped to shore. One of the most
critical steps in this process is the transshipment of the
debris from the buffer to the transport medium, because
the conditions at sea can be very rough. High waves and
wind can hamper the operation and have a serious potential
to put strain on mechanical components. The following
