Research Question 1: This question sought to determine what difficulties chemistry students experience in the
learning of Nuclear Chemistry (NC) concepts. Table 1 shows the various aspects of the concepts in Nuclear
Chemistry in which students experience learning difficulties as indicated by the number and types of errors they
committed while tackling questions on the concepts. The percentages (figures in brackets) indicate the proportion of
students experiencing the difficulties (wide spread nature of the difficulties among the students). It can be observed
from the Table that before remediation programme was applied, out of the 30 concepts and sub-concepts identified
in NC, students experienced widespread learning difficulties in 25. Thus most of the concepts and sub-concepts are
difficult to overwhelming majority of the students. Some of the concepts that posed most widespread difficulties
