Troubleshoot
For linking an existing IRCTC account with Cleartrip, please provide your IRCTC username, email address & mobile no exactly as per your existing IRCTC account.
For creating a new IRCTC account on Cleartrip, you will need a IRCTC username, mobile number & email address which hasn't been used on IRCTC.
For users who don't have an Indian mobile no., please register for a new IRCTC account on Cleartrip by providing a dummy 10 digit mobile number, and email/IRCTC username which haven't been used on IRCTC. If you have already registered with IRCTC's site, and have OTPs, you will not be able to use that on Cleartrip. You will need to make fresh registration on Cleartrip, and use the newly received OTPs for activation.
I created my IRCTC username a while back, and I don't remember it now.
Search for a registration email from care@irctc.co.in in your list of potential mailboxes (which has been used for IRCTC registration)
If that doesn't work, please send a mail to care@irctc.co.in with your email address requesting them for the same.
I don't remember the mobile number & email address used in my IRCTC account
Login to www.irctc.co.in and recheck the mobile number & email address used in the IRCTC profile.
In case the mobile number & email address is changed, please update the same in the IRCTC profile.
The linking of IRCTC account with Cleartrip fails with this error message "Username already in use at IRCTC" or "Mobile and Username in use, but email is not in use" or "Email & Mobile are registered with different users" or "Entered mobile is already registered with IRCTC"
Login to www.irctc.co.in and check the mobile number & email address used in the IRCTC profile.
Once you are sure of the above, you can link the IRCTC account onto Cleartrip.
I haven't received my OTPs yet
Use the activation link and click on "Resend OTP" to get the OTPs redelivered
If you have a non-Indian mobile number, please send a scanned copy of your passport to care@irctc.co.in with the details (Email, Mobile number, IRCTC user id). Post verification, they will send back the mobile OTP on email.
Username is deactivated by IRCTC
Please login to your IRCTC account at irctc.co.in and update your profile.

Can I try my luck with registering a new IRCTC account rather than linking to an existing IRCTC account?
Yes, only if you have new mobile number & email address which hasn't been used on IRCTC.
I don't have a 10 digit Indian mobile number. How can I link my Cleartrip account onto IRCTC?
Please use a dummy 10 digit number, and post registration, send your scanned passport copy to care@irctc.co.in to get your OTPs on email.
I have received multiple sets of email & mobile OTPs. Which one should I use?
Please use the last set of OTPs received for activation.
