The production of nitidine from callus cultures was confirmed by TLC and HPLC analyses. With TLC analysis the Rf values of presumptative nitidine had the same value as the authentic nitidine; when derivatized with Dragendorff’s reagent both spots were orange and were produced at Rf value of 0.38.
