It has been identified that the lack of good lifting equipment at recycling centres forces the employees to perform unnecessary lifts (RVF, 2003; Sundin et al., in review) Therefore, it is important to improve both the amount and quality of lifting equipment at recycling centres, which will make the job easier for both men and women. The employees rated both their physical and mental tiredness lower compared to nurses (6.2 and 6.2 respectively) (Engkvist, 2006). This supports that despite moments of heavy lifting and many users, there are also opportunities to recover during the work day.
