Conclusion
Family members providing care to an ill relative are per- forming a great service not only to their family but also to society as a whole. From an economic perspective, family caregivers save health services billions in hospital costs. The current study provides evidence that people providing care do so at a great risk to their own psychological health. Utilising previous research findings and the current find- ings, it is of the utmost importance that health services implement caregiver interventions that are designed to help specific groups of caregivers that are at greater risk of developing a psychological disorder.
