This chapter examined audit procedures associated with the revenue cycle. The chapter
began with a review of alternative technologies used in both legacy and modern systems. The emphasis was on key operational tasks under alternative technologies. The second main section of the chapter presented revenue cycle audit objectives and controls. In this section, we examined the tests of controls that an auditor may perform. Evidence gathered from tests of controls contributes to audit objectives and may permit the auditor to limit the scope, timing, and extent of substantive tests. The last section described the use of ACL in performing the more common substantive tests. The tests were presented in relation to the management assertions that they were designed to corroborate or refute.
