28 motivation items, which were factor-analyzed into 6 main dimensions:
cultural exploration, novelty/regression, recover equilibrium, known-group
socialization, external interaction/socialization, and gregariousness. The researchers
concluded that those who attended music events, in particular,
the Fiesta in San Antonio, were mainly motivated by their need for cultural
exploration and the novelty/regression dimension. This study further
revealed similar motives across different types of events, even though differences
emerged in the relative relevance of motives to attend different types
of events.
