For each of the wind turbine li sted in Table8, the optimal size
of wind turbines,converters and the batteries that are capable of
meeting the electric energy demand of SANAE IV using the wind
energy resource of Vesleskarvet are determined using HOMER.The
assessment criteria for mostprobableWindPowerSystem(WPS,
i.e. wind turbine,battery and the power converter)are based on
Net Present Cost (NPC) and the Cos of Energy (COE).
The Initial capital cost of each of the wind turbines used in the
simulation areobtainedas (19) from specific cost(Swec) o fwind
turbine depicted in Table9[10,28].
