1. Introduction
Amongst primary feedstocks, microalgae are currently
considered to be one of the most promising alternative sources
for biodiesel [1e4]. Microalgae have attracted attention for
bioenergy production because it can produce oil in the cell
body as well as carbohydrate and protein [5]. Microalgae are
microscopic photosynthetic organisms that are found in both
marine and fresh water environments. Unlike oil crops,
microalgae grow extremely rapidly and many are exceedingly
rich in oil. Although the growth of the microalgae depends on
