A 2010 report from the World Economic Forum estimated
that by 2020 the market for biofuels, biobased
bulk chemicals and plastics, and bioprocessing
enzymes would approach $95 billion. The market
for technology to increase agricultural productivity
would approach $15 billion. Producing and
transporting biomass to biorefineries could generate
an additional $120 billion in economic activity,
while conversion of biomass to heat and power
could also be worth $65 billion [8].
