Feelings and
emotions are essential elements in the care process.24 Yet, they should be the object of reflection and
dialogue. This can be achieved through moral case deliberation. In a moral case deliberation, healthcare
professionals systematically reflect on one of the moral questions from their practice.27 In a moral case
deliberation, nurses and other healthcare professionals examine their judgments about a dilemma in practice
and investigate the values at stake. By reflecting on their own values and comparing these with the values of
other participants, nurses are stimulated to develop new perspectives on difficult cases in practice.
