The world’s urban population is growing at an
unprecedented rate. For the first time in
history, more than half of the world’s
population lives in urban areas. As we witness
the arrival of the urban century, cities in
developing countries are experiencing rapid
growth, according to the United Nations
Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT).
By the middle of this century, it is believed
that one out of two people will be living in a
