in today's high-tech world, the idea that i can make something cheaply and quickly from readily available materials appeals to me. There is only a limited range of commercially produced pinhole cameras, and i would like to buy it ,but for me the fun is in making the thing from scratch and finding ways around the various technical challenges on the way. I find the main advantage of pinhole is the limited depth of field. this means that no focusing mechanisem is needed but also that the film plane does not have to be flat. This flexibility is useful for trying out more creative techniques and means that there is no need to ensure a perfect film path
