There is a rumor going around about the lake that is rapidly becoming a local legend. People believe that because some cattle and numerous animals were submerged that the corporation that built the dam put alligators or crocodiles into the lake to clean up all the animal carcasses. This is how legends start. Now a lot of people don’t want to go near the lake or use the water in case of alligator attack. This is not going to help the tourist industry which it is thought the lake will encourage. It was actually hoped that this lake would become as well known as Dal lake in Shrinigar Kashmir with its beautiful houseboats and setting. Time will tell on this issue.Additionally with the shifting land some new archeological finds have appeared. One is a temple that was cut into a cave. Right now the Archeological Survey of India is checking it out but it is difficult for non-authorized people to go there. And due to the instability of the site it may not be a good idea yet. This site is rumored to have a lot of old statuary and decoration and was possibly buried in a past earthquake.
