The vibroacoustic music chair can also be used as
part of a classroom management system. For example,
students can be motivated or rewarded by receiving time
in the chair. Also, students who are emotionally or physically
out of control might be soothed by the sensory
input provided by sitting in the chair.
Interesting by-products of this pilot study were the
unexpected psychological and physical benefits of using
the vibroacoustic music chair. Thus, students who used
the chair for health reasons, such as headaches and stomachaches,
reported that they always felt better after
spending time in the chair. It even provided one student
a positive transition from a chaotic family morning and a
stressful bus ride to the demands of the school day. Additionally,
faculty and staff members used the chair for relief
from migraines and stress.
