Additionally, Eshima Ohashi Bridge is sometimes referred to as a “Ramen Bridge”—this name has nothing to do with the famous Japanese noodle soup, it’s actually a German loanword. The Japanese language borrows the German word for “frame” (Rahmen) as the Japanese word for “rigid frame”, which is the type of bridge that the Eshima Ohashi Bridge is. Thus the bridge is called a “Ramen Bridge” occasionally.
