Hold–Relax with Agonist Contraction
It is a variation of the hold-relax technique. In one study15 the HR-AC technique produced a greater increase in ankle dorsiflexion range than did the HR technique. Both PNF techniques produced a greater increase in range of ankle dorsiflexion than did manual passive stretching. In another study, there was no significant difference between the use of the HR and HR-AC techniques.37
