A monthly ARPU of 15 euros makes for a very profitable
business case. Like the fixed use case, the business becomes
profitable by the third year with the rising penetration of LTE
services. In spite of the high customer acquisition costs, the
overall payback time is still less than 312 years. On the whole,
the profits are far higher than in the fixed use case, with an
NPV of more than 360 million euros; as the numbers of users
and cash flows become larger, so do the profits. From another
perspective, a monthly ARPU of approximately 10 euros
would be enough to cover all the costs (NPV=0). Together,
the results from the mobile use case illustrate well the
economic potential of offering wireless broadband services to very large numbers of consumers.
