The need for in-depth financial statement analysis has been publicized by numerous “scandals” in the financial arena. In many case, the “reported” financial statements did not accurately reflects the financial status and performance of these corporations. To understand today’s financial reporting, both the student and user must acquire the ability to analyze and uncover areas of concern that may have a material effect on the corporations as a going concern.
This course is designed to provide an integrating experience by combining knowledge from corporate finance, investments, and accounting. The cases will enhance the student’s knowledge and understanding of these theoretical and conceptual foundations with an emphasis on actual company examples. As a result, the student will learn to analyze financial statements in a detailed and realistic context.
