In post hoc tests, significant differences
were found between the women screened after
receiving the brochure and those not screened
after telephone interviews in terms of cervical
cancer knowledge scores (p ผ .04), between the
women screened and not screened after the
telephone interviews (p ผ .01) in Pap smear
test knowledge scores, and in total knowledge
scores between the women screened after
the brochure and those not screened after the
telephone interviews (p ผ .02) and those
who did and did not accept screening after
the telephone interviews (p ผ .01). The mean
barrier perception score of the group screened
after telephone interviews was significantly
higher than that of the women screened after
the brochure only (p ผ .02). Across the three
groups, 86.5% of the women screened after
the brochure, 83.7% of those screened after the
telephone interview, and 79.6% of those not
screened after the telephone interview requested
reminders of their next Pap smear tests and suggested
telephone contacts.
