The processes of change are the strategies used to progress along the stages of change. The processes are divided into cognitive (thinking) and behavioural (doing) strategies. For example, people might seek information on physical activity and mood enhancement (cognitive strategy) or post a note on the fridge door to remind them to walk that day (behavioural strat-egy).
