In this article, we report a successful attempt of the utilization of
synthetic seed technology for C. sativus using shoot tips for encapsulation.
The morphogenic response of the encapsulated shoot tips
was evaluated in various media. Efforts were also made to test their
ability to retain viability following storage at room (25 ± 1 ◦C) as
well as low temperature (4 ◦C) for different durations. Post-storage
genetic uniformity of plantlets was analyzed using RAPD and ISSR markers.
