Polyamine, NH3 and ACC deaminase production
Study of polyamine production indicated that two yeasts – Pseudozyma rugulosa DMKU-RE60 and P. antarctica DMKU-RP213 – produce polyamine in culture broth ( Table 1; Fig 3). NH3 production was detected at two different levels – i.e. a low or a high level – in nearly all the yeasts, except T. globosa DMKU-RP31. No relationship between mineral solubilisation and ammonia production in this yeast could be drawn. However, ACC deaminase activity was not detected in any of the yeast isolates studied here.
