Low-context communication styles do not favor the in-groups of high-context
culture (Hall, 1976). Communication is codified, highly verbal, direct, or explicit (Hall,
1976). According to Hall (1976), life tends to be task- and rule-oriented. Time is highly
organized, and the product is more important than the process (Hall, 1976). Hall (1990)
classified this concept of time as polychromic as the opposite of monochromic, as
"human relations and interactions are valued over arbitrary schedules and appointments.
Many things occur at once, and interruptions are frequent" (p. 184).
