4. Conclusion
Findings of the paper reveal that the natural dyes extracted out
of the agri-food industry waste, can be a sustainable alternative
to synthetic dyes in developing countries.
The recovery of phenols was dependent on the solvent system used.
Solvent mixtures have been shown to extract significantly larger amounts of crude material from pepper wastes than the neat solvents.
The most efficient solvents for extracting phenols and flavonoids from pepper waste, was around (65–35–0%) for, respectively, acetone–water–ethanol.
